The Story of Rikki

A few years ago, I started researching ethical Golden Retriever breeders who focused on producing healthy puppies. I found PBG Kennels and read many positive reviews from families who were happy with the puppies they received. My husband and I were looking for a companion for our family dog (who needed an active friend). PBG’s dogs seemed perfect. I had a great phone conversation with PBG’s owner, Howard, and immediately put down a deposit.
Unfortunately, there weren’t enough puppies, so I was going to be waiting longer. However, Howard called me up with an alternative. He offered me a 10-month-old puppy that he had originally planned on keeping. We visited a couple of weeks later and immediately fell in love with our new pup Rikki. During that visit, Howard and Clay spent a lot of time with us sharing stories about Rikki and showing off her training. Even though I didn’t leave with an 8-week-old pup, we know Rikki was meant to be ours. She became our other dog’s best friend right away.
She got along with our cats, too! We can’t imagine our life without her. Almost three years later, we can confidently say Rikki has added so much joy to our lives. Rikki turned my husband into a Golden Retriever lover for life! He can’t wait to get another one. Rikki has done wonders for my mental health, too. It’s hard to be sad when Rikki is around because she’s just so happy and full of life. She’s so smart and trainable. She watches our other dog and learns new things easily. People compliment us on how well-behaved she is in public!
We think that’s a testament to PBG’s genetics (beautiful AND smart)! We are so thankful to PBG and Howard for giving us this wonderful gift.
